IT’S OFFICIAl! BEYONCE IS PREGNANT…WITH TWINS!

That’s right, not one, but two mini beyonce babies and the world cannot wait!

This time she decided to surpass everyone on Instagram with a stunning reveal photo which is now the most liked photo on Instagram ever beating both Selena Gomez and Kendall Jenner! Some have been saying that she never did a photoshoot with Blue because maybe she used a surrogate, but maybe she just fancied doing one now for the sake of it. She is queen bey, she can do whatever she likes!

Is Social Media To Blame For Kardashian Robbery?

Social media, a technology that has changed the world is so many ways. Bringing people closer together, allowing people to access technology in a new way and a network that has ultimately changed how the way business works.

Visual networks such as Instagram and Snapchat allow us an insight into people’s personal lives, we are giving people permission to enter our exclusive lives and give people an opportunity to show others the way we live.

This is especially true of celebrities and socialites. Of course, The Kardashians are a huge part of this having some of the largest followings on both snapchat (Kylie Jenner currently ranks #1) and Instagram (Kim and Kendall leading the game).

So with this in mind, we turn to Kim Kardashian, who was robbed in her hotel room during Paris Fashion Week with £8 million worth of jewellery being taken from her, after being tied up and held at gun point.

Earlier in the day, kim had been showing off her expensive jewels on Snapchat and Instagram, with close ups of the diamonds sparking and being the centre of attention.

screen-shot-2016-10-07-at-14-35-21

This instantly shows that Kim is in possession of very expensive jewellery, also showing her possible locations and ativities at all times giving anyone an opportunity to strike. Many people are blaming Kim and other celebrities excessive use of social for the Robbery and other incidents.

However, what people seem to not understand is that Kim wasn’t ‘asking for it’, sharing a picture on social can be perceived in any way by any one, just because you post a picture of something you own certainly DOES NOT mean you are asking for someone to come and take it away, or for someone to point a gun at your head and threaten you and your family. However, being discreet about your possessions should maybe be considered in the future is what people are trying to say. We must remember she is a mother, a sister and a daughter as well as a human being.

I believe that social is not to blame for the Robbery, society is. Perhaps the Robbery was an inside job with new information that only people on the inside would have been able to direct the Robbers in Kim’s Direction and news that head security guard Pascal’s company is filing for Bankruptcy. However, if evil people didn’t exist, these hate crimes would not happen in the first place and social would be a place where you could do anything.

People on Twitter had A LOT to say about the incident, with other celebrities and people coming to Kim’s defence as well as Kanye cancelling a show mid way amongst other shows on his tour to show support for his wife. On the other hand, there are claims the stunt was all fake, didn’t even happen and people blame Kim for wearing jewellery in the first place and flaunting it.

screen-shot-2016-10-07-at-14-47-06

screen-shot-2016-10-07-at-14-48-52

So, was the robbery fake? Was security to blame? Was Kim to blame? Was social to blame?

I would like to think that someone wouldn’t lie about something so serious, especially when guns are involved. If this was your friend or family member how would you feel? Every one is entitled to their own opinion but I do not feel that social or Kim is to blame. Of course, social is a place to show off and let people know what you are doing, but this doesn’t give anyone a reason to attack.

Kim did not step out in public for a few days, but has recently been seen with her daughter and Kanye. The successful series Keeping Up With The Kardashians has apparently been put on hold due to the Paris incident.

What are your thoughts on the situation? Let us know in the comments below!

Super Bowl 2016: This is Beyonce’s World, and We Are Just Living In It

slider1.3

Super Bowl Sunday was viewed by over one hundred million people this year. Viewers come for the game, the commercial, the snacks, or the halftime show. This year the Pepsi Halftime Show brought to the stage Coldplay, Bruno Mars, and Beyonce. Coldplay started the show with the infamous “Viva La Vida” and a technicolor spectacular that extended to the edges of the stadium. Bruno Mars then jumped in with his crew, giving us a close up look at some of the moves from “Uptown Funk”. Lastly, Beyonce appears like a flash of lightning with a whole formation of dancers, and a marching band. Some reviews claim that Coldplay was underwhelming, and that Beyonce stole the show. Beyonce does have a way of commanding attention, but she is also a master of social media strategy.

Screen Shot 2016-02-08 at 2.46.10 PM

On Instagram she begins her story by showing images from her secretly released music video, “Formations”. Just one day before the highly anticipated, Super Bowl Sunday.

Screen Shot 2016-02-08 at 2.46.22 PM

She shared behind-the-scene type videos that featured her crew, and the preparation that led up to the big moment. One interview in the video quotes, “You dont get a chance to half ass it. You have to go full out everytime, and you know why? Because she’s going full out. When you think you can’t push yourself anymore, you can. Theres still more to go”. Her determination serves as motivation for her fans, and everyone she works with.

Screen Shot 2016-02-08 at 2.46.53 PM

Not only was Beyonce using the Super Bowl as a platform to promote her own projects, she was publicly taking a stand with the Black Lives Matter Movement by having dancers and musicians behind her that emulated the Black Panther Party of Self Defense that played a role during the Civil Rights Movement. This resulted in a fairly politically charged performance, that was seen by millions.

Screen Shot 2016-02-08 at 2.47.10 PM

She performed to her fullest ability, like always, with the best of the best behind her. She even caught herself when she almost stumbled, and seamlessly joined back in with the dancers.

Queen Beyonce announced during the Super Bowl, “The Formation World Tour”.

Tour dates and locations have been set, and released.

#formations and #blacklivesmatter were both trending hashtags after the SuperBowl.

Beyonce wins, yet again.

What’s new this week

This has been an amazing week! We attended Social Media Week London, we gave a talk about maximising social media & partnerships for ROI at MOO HQ (many thanks to General Assembly!), Apple launched iOS9, London Fashion Week and London Design Festival kicked off, and…

What’s new this week

Facebook dislike button: Facebook has plans to launch what is being called the “dislike button”. “I think people have asked about the dislike button for many years,” Zuckerberg said. “Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it.” The exact form a “Dislike” button may take is still up in the air. “What [users] really want is the ability to express empathy,” Zuckerberg added. “Not every moment is a good moment.”

Goodbye creepy targeted ads on Facebook: as you can see in your own settings page Facebook now allows you to choose your ads settings with a simple yes-or-no check. So, goodbye Interest-based advertising.

– Snapchat Launches First In-App Purchases With ‘Replay’: Users of the messaging service can now purchase “Replays” of disappearing photo and video “snaps” they receive on the app. Replays, priced at three for 99 cents, represent the first time users can spend money in the app. Snapchat still gives users one free replay per day, a feature it introduced about two years ago. However, a snap can only be replayed once. “They’re a little pricey — but time is money!,” the company said.

– You Can Now Donate To Politicians … On Twitter: Twitter just made it way easier for people (in the USA) to be politically active. They announced that through its partnership with mobile payment company Square, Twitter users will now be able to make political donations via tweets. Candidates sign up for an account through Square Cash and once his or her campaign is verified by Square, the politician can tweet a unique URL or a $Cashtag, which will have a “contribute” button.

Facebook Introduces Signal for Facebook and Instagram: Signal for Facebook and Instagram is “a free discovery and curation tool for journalists who want to source, gather, and embed newsworthy content from Facebook and Instagram, across news, culture, entertainment, sports and more–all in one place.” (Read more)

– Periscope Introduces Web Profiles: “Periscope web profiles are finally here! Go to periscope.tv/username to see all the recent broadcasts for any Periscoper.” (Read more)

– Pinterest Introduces Pinterest Palettes: “Pinterest Palettes looks at your boards and unearths your own personal color palette using colors right from your pins.” (Read more)

Skype Launches Mojis: “Now, when you send a message on Skype, you can personalize your chat and pull in your favorite TV or movie moments to do the talking for you.” (Read more)

3 Things You Missed This Week

3 Things You Missed This Week

  1. I have to admit it, an e-mail from Hootsuite made my day last Wednesday. I was over the moon!

    Hootsuite integrates Instagram
    YAY!
    Oh, wait.
    Have you tried it yet?
The new feature is not nearly as cool as it sounds. It isn’t the revolution we were hoping for.
As you can see in this video, you’ll receive a mere push notification on your phone letting you know that your post is ready to be published, then to publish it you’ll have to tap on the push notification, open Instagram as usual, paste your message and, at last!, post your super wonderful summer-y pic. Booooo. They say Instagram + Hootsuite = <3 I say meh.

  2. You wear a lot of hats at work but all of a sudden you’re expected to wear another: you need to be a designer. Your boss just asked you to create something, and expects it to look “professional”. Or maybe you’re the boss and all of a sudden you realize that aside from everything else you have to do in a day it’s important to create a nicely designed presentation or social media graphics. It’s tough. But, here comes the superhero we’ve been all waiting for: Canva for Work.

    Canva for Work
You can make beautiful graphics for your blog, social media accounts, or even print publicity and, most of all, you can use their brand new Magic Resize feature as much as you want. Have a look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAB7RyAThxA

  3. Does YouTube look different to you today?Youtube
If you’re noticing that the YouTube player on the desktop seems to have a sleeker look-and-feel, then you’ve probably spotted the update YouTube has just rolled out. The company launched a new HTML5 video player for desktop users, which now features a transparent control bar that disappears when you’re not using it, as well as updated buttons and drop-down menus. Hooray!

Tinder and Instagram, A Social Love Story

Tinder and Instagram have now found love, with each other. Yes, you heard it; the tech giants have joined forces to enable their users to find a well rounded and more in depth definition of love.

One smart option they’ve allowed is to un-privatize your Instagram page solely for the purpose of Tinder. Now your future, current, or possible love can see more than five photographs on your Tinder profile. Although, if they are current, you may want to rethink the whole Tinder idea.

Screen Shot 2015-04-17 at 13.46.49

Tinder has recently seen a rise in competitors such as, Happn. Could this be why they’ve decided to immerse users in a social dating world? Facebook and Tinder have already joined forces by adding all of your interests on Tinder for your match to deliberate whether or not you’re a suitable fit. Tinder also comes with the all time favourite, mutual friends. What better way to certify the good-looking human you’re interested in by proving he’s not an axe murderer?

Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 20.04.10

We’ve entered into a more advanced, relevant dating age. An age whereby people can cross paths in the street and receive a notification that your crush is close (Happn). An age where instead of buying a person a drink, we’re receiving an alert that we’re a ‘match’.  We’re social beings, and dating has just become a social game.

Living App to App

Convenience and communication are the pillars of social media. We’ve come so far in making sure everybody is connected at every point of their lives, wherever they may be. A few countries have their mobile phone connection better than their Wi-Fi. Progression is definitely there and it is growing everyday.

But when does progression in technology create a regression in our human lives? Some say it happened the moment the Internet was created, others say now. We’ve gotten to a point where we aren’t living the memory we just Instagrammed. When we look back at our pictures via applications, do we remember the event with a longing smile on our face, or do we plan for the next photo opportunity?

It’s rare nowadays to find a group sitting and talking all at once without their phone screens glued to their face. Lulls of silence and what Kevin Bacon calls ‘buffer face’ has become the norm. However, the alternative will see us retract back 10 years where we strive for what we have now. It’s a never-ending, not so vicious cycle, the ultimate battle between man and technology. Well, technology wins in terms of humanity.

Never before have we been as close to world issues as we are today, seen the images photojournalists risk their lives over just to educate the public. Never before have we had the power to oppose oppression and start revolutions on such a vast scale. Thanks to social media, these are all a reality.

What Professor Daniel Kahneman says within this very powerful video is a gentle reminder that as far as we have come, human interaction is unique and shouldn’t be taken for granted.
